In Two Places at Once!

On Saturday, June 22, Firebringer Press will be represented at two events simultaneously!

Firebringer Press publisher and writer, Steven H. Wilson, will speak at the Carroll County Public Library in Eldersburg,  MD from 1PM to 2PM.

Boomers, GenX-ers, and the Final Frontier

The generation that grew up after television but before the Internet saw the birth of a whole new kind of popular culture; tales of other worlds, possible futures, and strange alien life forms captured the imaginations of many. From math club nerds to geek chic, from hiding comics in our textbooks to Marvel movies dominating the box office, fans of the fantastic have come a long way. Steven Howell Wilson, author, publisher, science fiction convention promoter, fanfiction writer, blogger, podcaster, and Star Trek comics scribe will lead you on a journey through the history of an amazing era. Millennials and GenZ-ers welcome if you promise not to make fun of our flip phones!

Firebringer Press author Phil Giunta will have a table in Creator Alley at the Lehigh Valley Comic Con on Saturday, June 22 from 10AM to 4PM at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schecksville, PA.

Guests include Michele Knotz, Ken Hunt, Will Torres, Richard Laslo, John Allemand, Brittany Brubaker, Felicia Faulkner, Troy Vevasis, Jack Hillman, and many more!

We’re Going to Shore Leave!

The Fandom Fifty by Diane Lee BaronWe look forward to launching Diane Baron’s latest book, The Fandom Fifty, at Shore Leave 41 SF convention this July in Hunt Valley, MD!

Attendees of the convention will be able to buy copies of The Fandom Fifty, and all other Firebringer Press titles, at the Friday night Meet the Pros book fair from 10PM to midnight.

Further, Steve Wilson, Phil Giunta, and Diane Baron will host our usual discussion panel showcasing our current titles and updating everyone on what’s to come, including the third volume in the Middle of Eternity anthology series and the next installment of The Arbiter Chronicles, Steve Wilson’s popular SF series.

Hope to see you at Shore Leave!

The Fandom Fifty is On Its Way!

Sorry for the extended absence from blogging but we’ve been busy both with writing and editing projects as well as fending off that gluttonous and enervating creature known as Real Life. You know, the one that brings no end of distractions and problems in its malevolent attempts to demotivate us.

Unfortunately, that particular beast has been working overtime as of late.

However, we are excited to report that Diane Baron’s upcoming non-fiction book, The Fandom Fifty, is nearly through the first round of editing.

The Fandom Fifty, due out later this year, is a collection of interviews and anecdotes from many of the organizers, guests, and attendees of Maryland’s SF Convention scene. The Baltimore region is home to a number of popular and enduring SF cons that include Farpoint, Balticon, Shore Leave, and others.

Free Stories on Wattpad!

Phil Giunta recently added two free short stories to his Wattpad profile.

In “Life and Limb,” two sibling scientists in Ireland unwittingly discover an ancient artifact that regenerates severed limbs while healing old family wounds. Click here to read!

The second is a SF detective noir tale called “Working the System.” Two years after leaving the interstellar navy, security executive Cameron Glazier is pressed into assisting with a police investigation after his former captain was found murdered. The man’s death is soon connected to an incident from Glazier’s final mission. Click here to read!

Elsewhere in the Middle of EternityBoth of these stories are among the 14 fantastic speculative fiction tales in the 2016 anthology, Elsewhere in the Middle of Eternity, from Firebringer Press.

The Publishing Pipeline

The Fandom Fifty by Diane Lee BaronThe next book in Firebringer’s publishing pipeline is The Fandom Fifty by Diane Baron.
The history of Maryland’s SF convention scene is chronicled through interviews and anecdotes from many longtime organizers, guests, and attendees. The Baltimore region is home to a number of popular and enduring SF cons that include Farpoint, Balticon, Shore Leave, and others. The Fandom Fifty is slated for release in mid-2019. In eternity, all stories are timeless.

Join gods and mortals in combat against slithering demons in famine-stricken Finland…

Witness an unconventional battle of wits as a devious genie tries to outfox a clever robot…

Ride with two hapless deliverymen as they stumble upon a frightening ritual to propitiate an ancient and malevolent power…

Escape to a remote corner of the globe with a desperate family fleeing an insidious alien invasion…

Follow a fraternity pledge as he undergoes an initiation to terror at a local cemetery…

The second project in the pipeline is the third volume in our speculative fiction anthology series—Meanwhile in the Middle of Eternity. This collection of sixteen spellbinding tales of SF, fantasy, and the paranormal follows in the tradition of its two predecessors.

Our august cadre of storytellers includes returning contributors Daniel Patrick Corcoran, Michael Critzer, Phil Giunta, Susanna Reilly, Stuart Roth, April Welles, Steven H. Wilson, and Lance Woods. Joining us for volume three are Sean Druelinger, Julie Fedon, Christopher Ochs, Bart Palamaro, and Peter Ong.
In addition to magnificent cover art by Michael Riehl, each story will be accompanied by one black and white illustration provided by a team of artists including Mike Riehl, Laura Inglis, and Tim Marron.

Meanwhile in the Middle of Eternity is tentatively scheduled for a late 2019 release. For now, you can catch up with the series in paperback or ebook:
